We weathered the big storm and our big anchored held with no problems. We are very happy to report that King Neptune’s Garden handled the sea salt bath as of yet so hopefully we’ll be eating some pretty tasty and big tomatoes soon. The weather is slowly shifting to the southeast and as we anchored in the north the fetch across the atoll would not be fun. We had heard from cruising friends that the southeast side of Tahanea is a sweet anchorage, boy were they right.
We left today and around 11 and anchored around 1 it was a easy sail and coral heads were fairly easy to see from a distance. As we took anchorage we were enjoying our little haven with no one around, but then . . . . we looked up and saw a sail on the other side of the atoll. We’re sure they are nice people but both of us were a little bummed. We miss our little oasis on the south side of Penrhyn where we had the whole motu to ourselves. This place is almost perfect.
Boat Position: 16 degrees 57.360 minutes south and 144 degrees 34.967 minutes west.
