On The Nose 30 knots

Foggy, rainy, and windy this morning. We didn’t even feel like going to shore for a stroll on the beach. Last night before going to bed we noticed our alternator must have stopped charging the batteries while we were underway because shortly after we were anchored our batteries were low enough we needed to run the generator. We have a new spare alternator onboard so this morning Wade replaced the alternator we bought in Hawaii, in 2016, and we were underway.

We didn’t have very far to motor, but anchoring in Zachary Bay was safer than trying to navigate the channel and moor in the marina at Sand Point in the dark. As predicted the wind picked up to 30 knots from the east with sizable waves. The bow of the boat would plunge into each wave and force the water to part. We only had to motor into the wind for an hour, but what an annoying hour.

Once we turned into the channel the wind was behind us and Popof Island broke down the waves so all was calm to drop a couple of Dungeness crab traps before mooring in the marina. For dinner we had tacos Sara made from canned deer burger, left over beans, a tomato that Marj brought, in addition to the normal taco fixings – Yummy.

Cheers,
Wade and Sara
