A traditional local in Fanning is the main room for which they enjoy company; take naps; eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner; pretty much a living room in the US. To protect from bugs the floor is raised about three feet off of the ground. The beautiful mats that cover the floor are removable to be cleaned and lay to make the seating more comfortable are made from Pandanus tree leaves.
