Foxhole Inlet Popof Island

We made it! Today around noon we pulled into Fox Hole Inlet and anchored. The anchorage approach is straight forward with a wide channel and easy anchoring. Upon arrival we dropped our bigger crab trap that had really stinky Black Rockfish bones from before we left Kodiak, yummy, at least we hope so to a crab. As soon as the anchor hook was set we dropped our fishing line. The flat sand bottom was a good indication there could be halibut; however, we don’t think the halibut had a chance because the China Rockfish attacked the bait before the fish hooks could get to the bottom. China Rockfish are ugly fish and when they get excited they swell up and have spikes that stick out. They are harder to clean but because of the prickers but Wade managed. Now we have dinner and more fish gut bait!

Cheers,
Wade and Sara
