Cloud Blanket

Both of us had active watches. The wind wanted to die or blow hard. We’d take out sails, put sails away and turn on the engine all night. The wind would shift from nearly in front of us to nearly behind us, so the sails needing sheeted out and trimmed in. At sunrise Sara saw the sun rise over the water and shine so brightly then disappear into the cloud blanket that covers the entire sky over us. Perfectly overcast day. Mid day we did see the fin of a single orca off the port front of the boat, about a hundred yards away. After twice surfacing it then disappeared. Later in the day the wind became a more steady direction off the beam and of about 11 to 17 knots, enabling us to resume a good sailing speed. We should arrive in Atka tomorrow, Thursday.

Cheers,
Wade and Sara
