A Good Day At Sea

What makes a good day at sea? It was a sunny day, no rain, about 78 degrees, the wind let up to an average of 15 knots such that we could put up full sail and make a relatively good and comfortable speed given how close to the direction of the wind we are sailing. And most of all, Sara’s sea-sickness is subsiding and she is feeling better. Catching a fish would make an even better day, and one did bite, but about 50 feet from the boat it got away; I guess we are still learning when it comes to hand-line fishing. Catching a fish might have made for a “perfect” day at sea, but we are happy with “good”.

At noon today the wind was about 15 knots out of a direction of about 100 degrees, our course was about 50 degrees, and our position was 16 degrees 5.022′ South and 147 degrees 47.632′ West. Near dark we are just south of the island of Rangiroa and the wind has become more fickle going light at times and northeasterly of direction, which it is suppose to do after midnight, but perhaps the change to light winds is coming earlier than predicted.

Cheers,

Wade and Sara
