We arrived early April at Wade’s farm in Iowa. The initial thought was to work a month on the farm, pack up, and fly back to Kodiak where the boat is still moored.
Well you see, what happened was . . . we bought a Lance truck camper to drive back to Alaska!! So not only did we have a couple weeks of brutal days picking up field rocks and cutting down trees that grew in the field fence line we have been outfitting the camper and Wade’s 2001 Ford F-350.
We took some time from slaving away to celebrate Sara’s birthday in Waterville Minnesota where Wade grew up on the beautiful Lake Tetonka. With final truck parts e.g. shocks and sway bars arriving and the last bit of farm work e.g. mowing of CRP we hope to be on our way back to the boat so we can enjoy what’s left of the summer in the Bearing Sea.
When we’re at sea we can’t really send pictures only text emails for blog posts. So just for fun and as requested by close friends and family we are going try and use Instagram on our trip back to Alaska.
Fun Fact: All boats have a home port or where the boat berths from. SV Just Drifting’s home port is Waterville MN.
Cheers,
Sara and Wade
