Four Black Tip Reef Sharks and One Sting Ray

Oh Wow! We Are Tired But We Rallied!

We made it through the night, anchored, and relayed to have a fantastic day! We let out fishing lines two hours before we pulled into the Tareu Pass Moorea. During the night the waves knocked down to almost flat calm so we were moving around 6 knots and slowed the engine to save fuel and not arrive so quickly or at dark; which is contrary to previous sails which we have to push hard to make it during day light. Sara made zig zags and fished while Wade slept as he had the early watch. Sadly again we did not catch any fish.

After anchored we caught up on a little sleep and then went exploring. We went to a sting ray and black tip reef shark tourist spot (17°29.243’,149°54.310’). Similar to Bora Bora, but these sting ray were much more friendly, haha, they would sneak up behind us and rap their fins around us from behind. Luckily the sharks did not do the same and stay a fair distance away.

On our way back we stopped at Papetoai village to find the oldest European building in the South Pacific, an octagonal church. Not only did we find the church, but we found kids jumping off the pier for an afternoon swim, and mini store with puffy Cheetos. We enjoyed our afternoon stop then headed back to the boat. Our anchorage has several boats, but we’re anchored in about 11 feet of sand in some of the clearest water. Back at the boat we are preparing for thanksgiving feast for tomorrow!

Cheers!
