Into The Wind Again

We found a weather window and we are into the wind again. We waited a day to let the sea calm down and the waves lay a little flatter, but the conditions are still not as ideal. Sara has been able to maintain her meals, but still remains a little seasick wooziness. Motoring from Huahine to Moorea is an overnight sail. The voyage is 85 nautical miles so by leaving around 10:30 – 11 am today should put us at the channel entrance around 5 am tomorrow morning. Sailing overnight isn’t always the most fun, but a night sail far out ways the danger of coming in an anchorage at night.

We are so bummed that we have yet to catch a fish on our new hand-lines, maybe tomorrow morning before we anchor in Moorea. We’re still getting the hang of using a hand-line but it hasn’t been too difficult. The one thing both of us miss is the clacking noise the reels would make when a fish was on the line. Sometimes we hear phantom clacking noises, haha.

We didn’t cover King Neptune’s Garden because we don’t anticipate the waves to be too bad, so crossing our fingers for no rouge sea spray. The plants are handling the wind well, especially, after last weeks 30 knot winds this should be a piece of a cake.

Cheers,
Wade and Sara
