Dutch Harbor Generosity

Wow! We would sure like to thank the people of Dutch Harbor, Alaska for the generosity and kindness we were met with at all times. Alaska might be a little on the cool side, but Alaskans’ personalities are not. We were offered food, given a crab trap, taken out crab trap fishing so we would know how to use our trap, taught how to fish the area and the best spots, where to find early season blueberries, and even offered doing our laundry. Dutch Harbor could easily be a place to spend an entire summer, yet we also want to see Kodiak Island this season, so with heartfelt goodbyes, we must move along again. So this morning at 9 am we left for Captains Harbor in the Alaska Peninsula, a sailing distance of about 200 miles, and we expected to arrive tomorrow around noon. Early on,and not long after going through Akutan Pass, we saw a group of killer whales. Another new “first” for us.

Cheers,
Wade and Sara
