French Polynesia In Reverse

108 posts

Most sailors prefer to sail down wind or on the beam to avoid the discomfort of sailing into the wind; therefore, the more comfortable way to travel through French Polynesia is from east to west because of the prevailing southeasterly trade winds. Our blog name is Comfort Cruising because we enjoy being comfortable while sailing; however, that does not stop us from sailing into the wind and traveling French Polynesia in reverse.

The French Polynesia In Reverse articles are a combination of our Noon Reports and Cruising Guide information while traveling between our destinations starting in Hawaii then Fanning to Penrhyn and through French Polynesia in reverse with a return to Hawaii.

We are ringing in the New Year in Pape’ete Tahiti, and New Years Day with a new sail.  The last couple of days we have been busy getting food, fuel, taking down Christmas lights, raising the dingy, cleaning the boat bottom, doing laundry and it goes on and on.  Our […]

Vendee SMA Paul Meilhat Arrives In Pape’ete Tahiti

We walked off the boat this morning to drums beating and Polynesian dancers arriving on small boats, along with many other small boats and outriggers. Tahiti welcomed Paul Meilhat SMA Vendee solo racer with open arms after his withdraw from third place. He left the Vendee race because of a […]
