St. Paul Marina Kodiak to Litnik Afognak Island

We finally left St. Paul Harbor for Geographic Harbor today. To break up the trip we stopped for the night at an abandoned town on Afognak Island called Litnik. As we pulled in the bay we spotted several otters, harbor seals, and jelly fish. We really wanted to go fishing but it started to rain so we felt a little lazy and just relaxed for the evening.

Huge shout out to the Anchorage Veterans Affairs (VA)! We could not be happier with the health system. The Anchorage VA has a travel coordinator so if you’re traveling in Alaska you can get care if you need it, even if it means flying you to a specialist in Anchorage. Sara’s jaw became infected in Dutch Harbor. After a series of antibiotics there was uncertainty about the cause of the infection so the VA flew Sara to Anchorage. Thankfully Sara’s infection cleared up and the infection was because of nothing serious just a deep wisdom tooth hole trapping bacteria. While she was in Anchorage she picked up our new Raymarine Axiom chartplotter from West Marine.

Many thanks to the Anchorage West Marine.  Earlier this year in the South Pacific the touch screen of our Raymarine eS128 chartplotter stopped working. The new Raymarine “Axiom” model was not shipping before we left Hawaii. We called the Anchorage West Marine in May from Hawaii to work out a return so that we could use the chartplotter without the touch screen until we got to Anchorage and the new Axiom chartplotter could be shipped.  We could not have been happier with the customer service.

Cheers,
Wade and Sara
