TeFaarumai Waterfall Aerial

Belated Merry Christmas from Tahiti

The internet connection was a bit slow yesterday, so a belated Merry Christmas to everyone! We’re sorry we haven’t updated lately but just like most people we got busy around the holidays.  Jackie and Ryan rented a car and met us at our last anchorage to hike the lava tubes. The hike was up a steep incline that just kept giving for three hours before we finally found our first lava tube.  We wrote about the lava tube hike here if you’re interest.  After the hike we headed to Pape’ete for a bite to eat and stopped to launch Kalo for drone aerial photos of the TeFaarumai Waterfalls (17°31’35”S, 149°23’30”W). Like the waterfall hike in Moorea the drone couldn’t pick up satellites near the waterfall, so Sara walked around gaining just enough altitude to pick up inflight satellites. This was the first time the drone got so far we lost connection for a brief moment, but quickly recovered and landed safely.

The day after the hike, we completed our circumnavgation of Tahiti with our giant Christmas tree lights and arrived back in Marina Pape’ete.  We’ve been busy in Pape’ete preparing for our slow journey to Hawaii, again, haha. We did not expect to be in Tahiti for so long.  Between getting fuel and groceries we’ve been busy making our gifts for each others.

Rainy season is here! Almost each day we shut the hatches because it is raining. Christmas day it rained off and on. Around 3pm yesterday the solar couldn’t keep up with the Turkey cooking in the convection oven so we turned on the generator and air conditioning, which probably was the best Christmas gift of all.

We hope everyone had a lovely holiday and we wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Cheers!

Wade and Sara
